Caring for silk fabric

Caring for your products

Naturally-dyed textiles, like all well-used textiles, may fade slightly over time as they are loved and used. At Rivarossa Botanicals, we take pride in our ethically made products and materials that are dyed using natural Australian plants and homegrown botanics. Our textiles are completely free of harmful chemicals and require proper care when worn and stored.

To maintain the vibrant colours of our silk garments, we recommend gently hand-washing them, turning them inside out first. Use cold water and a gentle, pH-neutral detergent to wash them. If machine washing is necessary, use a cold, delicate wash cycle. Afterwards, hang the garments to dry in a shaded area, avoiding direct sunlight. When ironing, select the appropriate setting for the fabric, and do not use bleach or stain removers on the products.

By following these care instructions, you can enjoy the beauty and longevity of our naturally-dyed textiles for years to come.

There are a number of pH neutral detergents that can be purchased in Australia. Here are a few options:

  1. Ecostore Laundry Liquid: This is a plant-based laundry liquid that is pH neutral, meaning it won't irritate sensitive skin. It is also free from synthetic dyes, optical brighteners, and phosphates.

  2. Omo Sensitive Liquid: This is a liquid laundry detergent that is pH neutral and specifically designed for sensitive skin. It is free from perfumes and dyes.

  3. Aware Sensitive Laundry Liquid: This is a laundry liquid that is pH neutral and specifically designed for people with sensitive skin. It is free from fragrances, enzymes, and optical brighteners.

  4. Euca Laundry Powder: This is a laundry powder that is pH neutral and free from harsh chemicals. It is made with natural ingredients and is suitable for people with sensitive skin.

  5. Earthwise Laundry Liquid: This is a laundry liquid that is pH neutral and made with natural ingredients. It is free from synthetic fragrances, phosphates, and enzymes.

It's important to note that pH neutral detergents are not always labeled as such. Look for detergents that are specifically marketed for sensitive skin or labeled as being free from harsh chemicals, as these are often pH neutral.
